About Neal

N. Ruchman

Born in New York City, the son of a Garmento father and a Fashionista mother, Neal has been writing before he learned to write, dictating stories to his Nursery School teachers, which found their way into print publication. In high school, he was a columnist for the newspaper and eventually its editor. After college, rather than following in his parents’ footsteps, he ran off to the Mid-West and became a student activist and founder of a Co-Op. Neal documented these years in the novel, A Separate Struggle.
Neal’s interest in politics brought him to Washington, D.C. for a position on Capitol Hill and then at a consulting firm. When Neal was 29 years old, he founded a professional services firm. This began a period of entrepreneurship that resulted in a warehousing company, a real estate firm, a direct marketing agency and a health services organization.
Through all this, his ability to write proposals, reports, business plans, and scientific monographs were key to his success. After enduring minor fame and much ignominy as a part -time actor, Neal has returned full time to his first love, writing. He lives in New York City, Key West, and occasionally Annapolis, Maryland. Wherever he goes, Neal plays second fiddle to Daisy, a Jack Russell Beagle.
